Agency History

Paso Robles Insurance was founded in 1939 as Giff Sobey Insurance and is located in one of the many local historic buildings. Originally constructed in 1872 by the founders of Paso Robles, Drury James and Daniel Blackburn, 500 12th Street was originally a carriage house within the El Paso de Robles Hot Springs Hotel complex.

In 2003, Paso Robles Insurance was acquired by the Bakersfield agency, Walter Mortensen Insurance. WMI has a long history and tradition in Southern California, growing to six offices in the state. In 2005, WMI was acquired by a large Dallas-based agency, Guaranty Insurance Services, with multiple locations throughout Texas.

In April 2011, Guaranty became part of INSURICA, providing clients new resources delivered by the same local relationships they’ve come to trust.
